Creating a Delightful & Intuitive User Interactions
Interaction design is the process of defining the structure and behavior of a product or service so that users will find it intuitive and easy to use. This design approach answers questions such as:
- When and how should information be presented to users?
- What should the flow be for purchasing a product and how many screens should it entail?
- Where should the “OK” button be placed so that users see it?
- What should a page be called?
- How will users know where they are?
Most often interaction design is done in “wireframe” form. Wireframes are bare-bone maps of a screen’s layout, including the information that it should contain, placement of information and the type and placement of controls needed for task completion. Generally, all but rudimentary color and images are left out of the wireframes until the design is finalized at which point the design is handed over to a visual designer for rendering.
