Because Simplicity is a Beautiful Thing
Visual Design Defined
Visual design uses color, shape, pattern, line, and text to create a positive, harmonious environment that users perceive as clear, pleasing, and complete. Visual design answers questions such as:
- What is the “personality” of this product?
- What visual elements will help this product connect to its core demographic?
- If this is an existing product, are there simple changes that can be made to improve its appearance and appeal?
- Are there existing designs (color, shape, image) that can be used to extend brand
awareness and create a sense of familiarity and comfort for users? - How long do users spend in this environment? If a short time: what can be done to get their attention quickly? If a long time: what can be done to avoid fatigue?
- how can users easily scan their environment to find what they need?
